Hot-Dipped Galvanized Steel
During hot-dipped galvanized production, hot rolled or cold rolled steel is cleaned and run through a bath of molten zinc. This creates a metallurgical bond between the zinc and the iron in the steel. After the zinc is applied, the coil may receive chromate treatment or not, depending on the customer’s application. The thickness of the zinc coating will affect the amount of corrosion resistance.
